DEPARTMENT 1 – PULLING CONTESTS

1. All Equine must test negative to an
official Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA) test within the current calendar year
(Dec. 1-Dec 31 of the following Dec.) and have papers checked prior to
unloading. Refer to the MDA Health Requirements at the beginning of the Premium
Book.
2. MDA Regulation 813 Testing Horses and Pulling Teams for Drugs at State Funded
Events available through MDA.
SECTION 100 PONY PULLING CONTEST ON DYNAMOMETER

The Truck with Team admitted free ONLY. Anyone connected with the Horse pulling
contest must pay, unless they are in the truck carrying the team, or Dynamometer

SECTION 103 – AGRICULTURAL IMPLEMENTS

RULES
1.
Prizes will be paid to the
winners following the contest upon results furnished to the Secretary’s Office
signed by the Superintendents.
2. Tractors
must be a complete tractor.
3.
Each contestant gets two (2)
pulling chances and must start from a tight chain. The second chance must be
taken immediately. (Either end on cement slab as directed by Superintendent.)
4.
No percentage pulls.
5. Drawbar
height limited to 20 inches must be stationary and extend beyond rear wheels
which serves as crash bar.
6. Pulling
will be on a 10 foot cable or chain.
7.
Tractors must be weighted on
scales at the pulling site not later than 9:00 a.m. on day of contest to be
eligible. Driver must be on tractor when it is weighed.
8. Only
one man allowed on tractor when pulling, must remain seated and be 18 years old
or over.
9. Tractor
must be regular farm tractor, farmer owned; proof may be required.
10. No
slipping of clutch permitted, changing gears or use of torque amplifier when it
is once engaged.
11.
Contestants must furnish own
clevis.
12.
Use of fluid in tires permitted.
All weights must be cement or regulation manufactured equipment. Cement weight
permitted if attached to wheels.
13.
All entries accepted subject to
above rules. If any question arises regarding rules or any other part of contest
decision of the Superintendents shall be final.
14.
No 4-wheel drive, dual wheels or
spring loaded hitch.
15.
No differential lock allowed.
16.
Fair Board is not responsible for
any breakage or rollover.
17.
Not materially altered from
original factory specification.
18.
Tractors shall not operate more
than 15% over factory rated RPM and horsepower shall not exceed 5 miles per
hour.
RULES FOR MULTI CYLINDER ENGINES
1.
Requirements for Multi Cylinder
tractors are the same except for these:
a. All
flywheels, clutches, pressure plate assemblies must be covered 360 degrees be a
3/8 inch steel five (5) inches wide or blow proof bell housing.
b.
Final drives, fan belts, gears and open
pulley must be protected with 16 gauge metal.
