11 288 3523 Hillsdale County Fair Essay
We
are bringing back a photo section from the past, HILLSDALE COUNTY FAIR. All
of our photographers did such a wonderful job of capturing the thrills and
excitement of the fair. This class will be a photo essay and will have only
pictures of last years Hillsdale Fair. These photos can be everything from
set up to tear down and anything in between. Photo essays must have
negatives and/or digital disk or CD of photos. All photos entered will
become the property of the Hillsdale County Fair including the negatives or
disk and may be used and published for advertising purposes. A
release form must be signed when exhibit is presented for exhibition
releasing all rights of the photos to Hillsdale County Agricultural Society
(Hillsdale County Fair). Photos may be
Color, Black and White or Digital. See rule #11 above for number of photos
and size requirements. Please be aware that 1st - 5th
places will be awarded to this class, however, all entries will become the
property of the Hillsdale County Fair.
SECTION 289 – PHOTOGRAPHY SPECIAL
MICHIGAN STATE FAIR SPECIAL
Open to Adult and Youth Divisions
Michigan State Fair will award a special gold ribbon in each of the classes
listed below. The winner of each ribbon is especially invited to exhibit the
article on which the award is made, or in case of perishable products, a
comparable article at the next Michigan State Fair. The ribbon will
designate the exhibit as a special State Fair display entitling the winner
to free entry of the exhibit and a complimentary pass to the next State
Fair.
Photography – Black & White and Color
ENTRIES CLOSE FRIDAY, AUGUST 29th
1. Entry
forms must be in the fair office as soon as possible but no later
than Friday, August 29th.
2. Exhibits must be brought in Thursday, September 18th
before the fair between 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. NO PHOTO’S WILL
BE ALLOWED IN AFTER THIS DATE. Contact
the Superintendent if you can not make this date.
3. Judging
Saturday, September 20th.
4. No
exhibit removed before 10:00 p.m. on closing day of the fair.
Any exhibit removed before this time will
forfeit premium moneys. Open Sunday, the day after the fair at 9:00 a.m. to
12:00 noon. Please make arrangements to have someone pick them up at this
time. Any unclaimed photos will be destroyed.
5. An
exhibitor may enter two photos in each class. Note:
when entering two photos in same class, photos must be entered
separately on entry form. Once a photo has been exhibited at the fair
it may NOT be shown again at any time in the future.
6.
No photo will be exhibited with
photographer’s signature or logo on the face of the photo.
7. Exhibit
open to amateur photographers only. An individual who receives money for
their work or who makes a living with photography is NOT eligible to exhibit, nor is their work eligible for exhibit by others.
8. The
management reserves the right to determine whether a photograph is worthy of
exhibition.
9. Cash
premiums will be given from the awards marked in the judge’s records and not
from ribbons that may be attached to the exhibit.
10. Single
photos must be 8” X 10” and mounted neatly and securely on mounting
board not to exceed 12” x 14”. A border of 2 inches per side is recommended
for all photographs. No photographs will be displayed in frames of
any kind. Photo’s are secured to walls with use of staples on each
corner. Some staples penetrate mounting boards. Please be aware and choose
mounting boards accordingly.
11. Photo
Essays must consist of 6 to 12 photographs mounted on a single 16” X 20”
mounting board. Photos must be 3” x 5” or larger.
12. All
photo’s scanned or reproduced with the use of a printer or enlarged using
digital equipment available in department stores, MUST be entered in
Sec. 287 Digital Prints. Photo’s entered in Sec. 285 and Sec. 286 MUST
have been shot with photographic film and printed with negative on
photographic paper only.

Section 288 – HILLSDALE COUNTY FAIR ESSAY
