GRANGE EXHIBITS

Superintendent – Gilbert Emens

All exhibits must be in place by Saturday, September 20th at 6:00 p.m. Judging will be Sunday, September 21st at 1:00 p.m. Exhibits will not be released until the Sunday, following the Fair.

Those who exhibited last year will occupy the same booth this year.

All ENTRIES must be in the fair office by August 29th.
 

DIRECTION TO JUDGES

Use the following information for judging section 297

Each Grange may use themes if they so desire.

POTATOES: two early varieties, three late, one sweet or yam,

three for each exhibit.

FRUITS, VEGETABLES, JELLIES AND MEATS CANNED: quality and appearance, not quantity, display according to size of space.

GRAINS AND SEEDS THRESHED: bright and fresh and update varieties.

PLANTS AND FLOWERS: attractive display.

CORN HUSKED: 5 varieties field, 3 sweet, and 2 pop.

VEGETABLES: quality and attractiveness.

SQUASH: 7 varieties. PUMPKINS: 3 varieties.

MELONS: MUSK, 4 varieties. WATER, 6 varieties

POULTRY AND DAIRY PRODUCTS: attractive display.

POSTERS: slogans and scenic pictures concerning Grange activities, no labels.

FRESH FRUITS: Attractive display of quality fruits.

MISCELLANEOUS: Small items need not be labeled

SCHOOLS AND RELIGIOUS EXHIBITS

General Rules

Exhibits must be in place no later than noon, Saturday, September 20th,  and shall remain until 10:00 p.m.  Saturday, September 27th. Open Sunday, the day after the fair, 9:00 a.m. to Noon to remove exhibits.

Each exhibit may be built around a central theme, or unit with materials exhibited developing the chosen theme. Judging will take place Sunday, September 21st at 2:00 p.m.

YOUTH – not to exceed the age of 19 by December 31st of the current Fair year.

 

Learning Objective- To encourage youth to work together reaching and exploring to develop a creative, educational, informational display around a chosen fair theme.

One entry per school building, representing any grouping of grades desired, may enter.

SECTION 303 – VETERANS DAY PARADE

Units must be commercial or non-commercial. Judging will be on non-commercial only. Judging at the MidTown Parking Lot in Hillsdale at 9:00 a.m. Parade begins at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 22nd.

SECTIONS 304 – TALENT CONTEST

Entry Deadline Friday, August 29th.                  

Contest at Nichols Bandshell, 4:00 p.m.

 Sunday, September 21st.      

 

Rules:

    1. Entry Fee - $3.00 for each participant
    2. Entries – Limited to forty (40)
    3. Classes – The first four (4) entries in each class will be accepted. The remaining openings will be filled on a first come first serve basis. Entertainers will receive an information packet prior to the event.
    4. Contestants must have own musical accompaniment, props, instruments and equipment. Piano furnished.
    5. THREE MINUTE TIME LIMIT PER ACT.
    6. Contestants may participate in one class only.
    7. First place winners of each division in 2007 can not compete in the same class.

  8. Auditions may be required.

YOUTH FUN THROW

Sign in 9:00 a.m. on Monday Sept. 22nd. Each participant will pitch 12 shoes provided by the Fair. Winners to be determined by total scores. Trophies will be given to the first three places in each class. NO ENTRY FEE REQUIRED.

Pitching Distance: Ages 8 to 12 pitch 20’

                             Ages 13 to 18 pitch 30’ or up to 40’

                                          (personal choice)
